Every morning will start with a nice breakfast at your hotel before we pick you up for a new adventure. When we are out in the wilderness we will also provide field lunch, snacks and warm drinks to keep the energy level high.
This isn't your typical ski holiday - it's an immersive expedition ski touring into an environment where nature regins supreme. Each day brings beautiful terrain to explore. One of the days we will use a snowmobile to get further into the wilderness for even more untouched snow horizons.
Our expert guides have extensive Svalbard experience and safety is our absolute priority. They all possess not only exceptional technical ski touring or backcountry skills but also extensive experience in polar environments where they have completed training in Arctic safety such as polar bear awareness and understanding of snow conditions. They will help with the equipmentfitting as well.
We have adde 3 x ski equipment for this package which includes boots, ski, skins, poles, avalanche beacon, probe and shovel and avalanche equipment.
Upon arrival you will get a sightseeing tour through town to get information about the beautiful destination you have arrived to. At the end of your stay there will also be a transport included to the airport.
From the beginning of Marts and onwards we will feel the return of the sun and passing the 8th of Marts the sun returns to Longyearbyen creating surreal lighting conditions, casting long shadows and golden hues across the landscape.
This will be a unique time to feel the freedom, nature and adventure. Over 60% of Svalbard is covered by glaciers, creating an endless playground of snow-covered peaks, frozen fjords and valleys. The silence is total.
…This is how our ski touring guide describe the experience even growing up in the Alpes: “The wind is crisp and cold, but the snow is dry, light and the Arctic powder can stay for days”. The wilderness makes every descent feel like a first descent.
This is a draft program, as Svalbards weather conditions can change fast which may cause a sitution
where we have to change or adjust the program based on possibilities available.
Your Arctic adventure to the Northernmost town Longyearbyen will begin the moment you arrive. The first activity for our ski package will be a warm welcome and organised introduction trip to Svalbard leaving the airport. We will go on a short sightseeing trip through Longyearbyen with the historical introduction to the iconic places as well as ending with a practical introduction. We will have preparations for your upcoming ski adventure with an equipment check and briefing for your ski touring adventure before you will arrive to your hotel where you can relax for the rest of the day.
We recommend a good solid breakfast before we pick you up at 09.00. Today we will be approx. 5 hours out in the wilderness so it is important to dress warm and bring a small backpack for extra clothes etc. The guide will decide what mountain top will be the best for todays weather conditions. Ascend a moderate peak and enjoy our first Arctic descent. A field lunch will be served to maintain the energi level and we will be back at the hotel around 14.00 in the afternoon where you will have the rest of the day at your disposal.
One of your three ski touring days incorporates a snowmobile tour which is a game changing approach that opens up Svalbard's most remote and spectacular terrain. Again we will have an early start for your snowmobile ski touring expedition. Journey deep into remote backcountry, access pristine slopes, and enjoy extended descents through untouched powder snow. We will be in the Backyard of Svalbard for approx. 7-8 hours before we return home filled up with great new memories.
The last day of fun in a snowy winter wonderland where the sunny winter bring a crisp air and perfect snow conditions, but don’t let the beauty fool you—the Arctic’s rugged side is always lurking. The land is wild, untouched, and full of challenges. As you ski through deep powder and across rugged ridgelines, the landscapes open up in all their raw, untamed glory. Svalbard’s mountains are demanding, and the snow is relentless, offering one of the most thrilling ski touring experiences you’ll ever have.
After a good night sleep it is time for your final breakfast the hotel. A taxi will pick you up at the hotel to transport you to the airport. Depart with unforgettable memories and photographs of your Arctic ski touring adventure.
You will be staying in a spacious standard room which is located across from the hotel’s main building.
All rooms face north, and several offer stunning views of Hiortfjellet and the town. All rooms have private facilities in the room.
Check-in and breakfast are available in the hotel’s main building.
After good nights sleep it is important to get a good breakfast before going out on our ski adventure.
