You must be able to walk in and out of a polarcicle boat and sit in a saddle seat. 

This tour is not for you if you have backproblems, is pregnant, or have severe mobility or balance issues.

Program

Pick up from your hotel

We pick you up at the hotel in a car and our journey begins. This is a private tour which means we offer a flexible and tailor-made tour for all between 1 to 12 persons. This means you can also explore in your own pace where there will be time for taking photos, ask questions, and simply absorb the beautiful scenery.

Your choice of destination

Before the tour begins you will have chosen the focus of your day and the captain will try to fullfill your wish. Depending on your wishes you have also chosen a tour for 4, 5 or 6 hours. Some of the possibilities for could be:

  • Explore dramatic bird cliffs and 
  • Go ashore to hike near a roaring waterfall
  • Visit historical settlements like the abandonned Hiorthamn or the Russian mining town Grumant.
  • Go to a mighty glacier front (min. 6 hours)

Exploring in the polarcircle boat

Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and you'll get equipped with a flotation suit, life jacket and goggles, before we set course down to the harbour. For the day your will be out on the polar circle boat. With a polarcircle boat you'll glide through stunning landscapes and experience the thrill of the open waters. This is a great possibility to take a unique perspective of the Arctic. Get closer to wildlife and Arctic landscape than you ever imagined. There are no toilet facilities or roof so you can experience some sea spray.

Return to your hotel

When the tour ends the guide will drive you back to your hotel and your camera will be filled with lots of memories from the tour.

Yes, we highly recommend booking your expedition in advance. Early booking guarantees your spot and allows us to tailor the experience to your needs.

Yes, solo travelers are welcome! You will then pay for all 12 spots but we will then tailor your trip from your wishes. 

Svalbard is home to diverse Arctic wildlife, and you may have the chance to spot animals depending on season like birds (puffins), reindeer, whales, walrus, seals, and even polar bears from a distance. However, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, and safety precautions are in place when in polar bear territory.

A lot of our guests request when it’s possible to see wildlife. This question can be difficult to answer as the wildlife is …wild. 

  • Puffins and birds from May to early August
  • Whales from May to September. The most common is the humpbackwhale and belugas. You can also be lucky to spot fin whales, minke whales and in rare orcations blue whales
  • Walrusses from May to early August

Your safety is our priority. If weather conditions make the boattrip too dangerous, the guide will assess the situation and may adjust the itinerary or postpone parts of the tour for. So we recommend that this tour should be in the beginning of your stay so you have flexibility. 

In summer, the average temperatures are between +3°C and +8°C and the weather can change quickly, so don’t forget to put on warm clothing and windproff clothing underneath the flotation suit that you will borrow from us. We also recommend that you wear a warm hat and mittens as well as bring an extra sweater in your backpack (or waterproff packing bag).

Yes, you need a travel- and cancellation insurance that covers medical emergencies, accidents, and trip cancellations. It’s essential to ensure you’re covered in case of unforeseen events during your Arctic adventure.

You can fly into Longyearbyen, the main settlement in Svalbard, via connecting flights from Oslo or Tromsø.
