Personal Svalbard stories from guests

"The perfect team for Svalbard"
This was an absolutely amazing experience with the guys from Backyard Svalbard. First, we started with 2 days of ski touring with Andreas as our guide, super snow conditions and weather, we were delighted with all. Andreas was very friendly and super helpful with everything, I felt like a going out with friends not as a regular customer.

"Warm welcome in the Arctic"
Three tours conducted over two days - snowmobile/ice cave, hiking and car tour with visit to Global Seed Vault. All well organised with knowledgeable guides supporting us. Very enjoyable experiences. Would recommend Backyard Svalbard - they also helped arrange a tour that was not available through them.

"Couldn't have been better"
I had a really fantastic day skiing with Backyard Svalbard last Thursday (March 26th, 2026). My guide - Brage James - was really fun to be with, professional, helpful, and full of local stories. We skied up Nordenskioldfjellet - which is what I hoped we would do - to incredible views, had coffee and chocolate in the freezing cold but magical views at the top. And we skied perfect snow and great lines down to the ice caves for a more sheltered hot lunch. We were both glowing from the great skiing conditions. It was a full day, and worth every krone!

"Top trip to in sunshine"
We had heard about the Arctic ski conditions on Svalbard and took the trip for the top part. But then we got a ski tour over all expectations! We went to Nordenskioldfjellet in beautiful Easter sun and with views over the entire Spitsbergen. Brage is a confident and skilled guide who found the right powder for us. The descent was in silky soft Svalbard pow. On our trip home we visited an ice cave before a 2km long cruise down Longyearbreen. I recommend everyone going to Svalbard to take a ski tour with this gang here!

"Snowmobile and Ice Cave"
Went to Svalbard as a solo and this tour company has been the best by far, very accommodating. They are very knowledgeable about the landscape and culture of the town too. Definitely recommend for solo’s or big groups as they offer a range of different activities. Andreas and Brage are also great guides and very compassionate about their roles in the company.

"Our best Arctic Camp"
Three friends traveled just before the Dark Season and chose Your First Arctic Camp, extending it to two nights—and it was unforgettable. From hauling pulkas and setting up a cozy camp to melting snow for dinner, everything felt smooth, safe, and thoughtfully led. Polar-bear precautions were handled professionally with short night watches, and—at our request—the dogs joined, which made it even more special. The highlight was a roped glacier hike where our guide, Andreas, impressed with calm leadership and deep glacier knowledge. A truly memorable, well-run adventure
