Expedition itinerary: Day by day

A ski expedition to Nordenskiöld land and national park on Svalbard is an attractive area for ski touring.

Day 1: From Adventdalen to Jansondalen

We pick you up at your hotel in Longyearbyen for a final gear check before heading out to Adventdalen. Slipping into our ski harnesses, the true expedition begins as we navigate into the stunning no-scooter zone. We haul our pulks at a steady pace into Jansondalen, adjusting to the weight of our gear. We set up our first wild camp surrounded by steep mountain walls. We will help each other set up camp and preparing dinner.

Day 2: Ascending glaciers

Wake up to total silence. Today we will pack out tents onto the pulks and prepare for a rewarding climb. We leave the valleys behind and navigate onto the majestic Møysalen glacier. Moving at a calm, almost synchronized pace, we reach the glacier plateau where we establish our second remote camp with pitching tents.

Day 3: Crossing Ruugaasfonna and Drønnbreen

This will be a spectacular day where we spend the day traversing the massive glacier systems of Rugaasfonna and heading across the wide expanses of Drønnbreen. Because we have the midnight sun season there is no need to rush as we will have 24 hours of daylight. We can take long breaks if needed to soak up the shifting Arctic lights over the ice fields before we reach our camp destination and build our final snow kitchen and camp under the sunny winter light.

Day 4: Gliding back to Adventdalen

After our final breakfast in the wild, we break camp for the last time. We enjoy a long, scenic descent down from the glacier. Our expedition loops back into Adventdalen, where our transport awaits to take you back to Longyearbyen for a well-deserved hot shower.

4-day tour route:

Adventdalen, Jansondalen, Møysalen, Rugaasfonna, Drønnbreen, Adventdalen.
