Privacy policy collection and use of personal data, processing of personal data – Consent

If you have signed up for the newsletter, you give consent for us to contact you by email with newsletters and offers.
We process your email address and information about your purchases with us until it is no longer relevant.
In practice, this means until you let us know that you no longer wish to receive emails from us.

You can always withdraw your consent. You can do this either by using the link at the bottom of our emails or by contacting us at booking@backyardsvalbard.com and indicating that you no longer wish to receive our newsletters and offers.

Processing of Personal Data – Fulfillment of Contract
In connection with your purchase from Backyard Svalbard, you have entered a range of personal data. In connection with the various ways we can interact with you and the different services we offer, we may collect the following categories of information:

Your name / company name
Your address
Your email address
Your phone number
Your payment information

Information for some expedition may also need to collect the following categories of information:

• Identity information, including gender, date of birth, and nationality
• Passport information
• Information about next of kin
• Health information, including information regarding allergies, disabilities, and illnesses

We process this personal information in connection with handling your purchase, as it is necessary for us to fulfill our part of the transaction, and accounting material must, according to the law, be kept for 5 years. After that, the information will be deleted.

If you have ordered delivery, the information about your name, address, phone number, and email address will be shared with our shipping company, currently Posten, for the purpose of delivering your purchases.

Data Security
Regardless of whether we process your personal information to fulfill a contract or based on your consent, we will always handle your personal information securely and confidentially in accordance with applicable law, including the General Data Protection Regulation and the Norwegian Data Protection Act.

Your information will only be used for the purpose for which it was collected and will be deleted once the purpose is fulfilled or no longer relevant.

We use third parties to handle:

• Your payment information — iZettle
• Handling of newsletters via email — Mailerlite
• Handling of newsletter sign-ups and waitlists — Mailerlite

We have entered into a data processing agreements with these data processors, which is our guarantee that they comply with applicable rules on the protection of your personal data.

Information, objection, correction, data portability, and deletion

If you no longer want us to process your personal data, or want us to restrict the processing of your personal data, you can also send us a request regarding this to the above email address.

If you think we’re not using or handling your personal data properly, you can file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority. Before doing that, we ask that you reach out to us first, as we might be able to answer your questions and clear up any misunderstandings.
